Question LP GPU compatibility?

After a topic yesterday with regards to system specs I started looking into possible upgrade possibilities and what it will cost end of the day.

1. I need a Riser Card. It is called a Tiny (a) Riser that is compatible for several in the Lenovo/IBM range.

2. I would need a LP GPU. This is where I get stuck. Years ago (Around Pentium 4 or 5ish) you were not able to mix memory. If your system had a specific memory then your GPU had to be the same type. Is this still a factor? I have DDR4 in my system but most of the LP GPU's has either DDR2 or DDR5. Think I saw one DDR4 in the list.

3. In most I can only see Recommended PSU. Not indicating usage. My PSU is a 65Watt but all LP's I have seen recommend a 300W PSU. Looking at possibly a Nvidia GT710 - 2GB (MSI) LP or a GT1030 - 4GB (Afox) LP.

System is a Lenovo M720q tiny, 35W CPU, SSD (Samsung 500GB) and nothing else fancy with an external 65Watt PSU.

Anyone able to give me more advise? Unfortunately, could not find anything on the internet to answer this question.

1. this thread might help (might be wrong risers)
might find some answers to this and PSU question in:

2. No, not for a CPU from 2018. Most gpu now use GDDR instead of DDR so it would be impossible to match.

Nvidia GT710 - 2GB (MSI) LP
they have two models, one has ddr3 and other has gddr5
I would get this model if you can:

GT1030 - 4GB (Afox) LP.
they make a GDDR4 version
it doesn't show its power requirements but suggested for the model is 200w

of the two, the GT1030 is better.

Yes that seems to have solved most of the questions.

I found something similar (will try and find it again) after I posted where the owner 3D printed a new case to fit everything which included several fans etc.

I am currently looking at the PSU's. I have seen adaptors from round to rectangular. I would just need to somehow verify if this would be able to take a Lenovo Laptop power supply (Round) and change it to the correct square. If this is possible I will be able to use a 350W + Laptop PSU instead of the 65W standard. Plan B would be to get the riser, and use an extended USB riser system to have the GPU outside the case running with it's own separate PSU. If I go this route I will be able to use a full size GPU.

CPU's on the second forum does not make sense to me. For years I was under the impression that the ZIF socket for Intel is different to that of AMD (Now Ryzen) yet he has both Ryzen and Intel on the same page. I know I cannot run a XEON chip due to the B360 chipset but can go up to an i9-9800T (Think was the 9800). But this still leaves me with an outdated GPU since it will just up to a UHD 630 (If my memory serves me right).

It is however true that this little box has a monster hiding inside of it. In my case it hangs on a visa bracket behind my screen. People see screen, keyboard and mouse and usually ask where my pc case is. Pointing to the little box hanging behind the screen, well I usually get the "yeah right!" look.

But it is dubbed my LOTTO project. Soon as I have things together, we can have our own little monster build in this forum.........daydreaming hard here so do talk to loud. LMAO
