Hello to those of you who enjoy playing video games, and to everyone else. I hope everyone of you is doing well. I need your advice. I'm hoping you'll give me some better ideas. There is a special purpose for this. In other words, I want to know more about "HPET" and why it needs to be turned off in order to play games. I have no idea what is happening, guys. I need your help.

I've never turned it off and never had a problem, and a quick Google shows up this thread on Reddit which seems to explain whats happening.

TLDR: if you turn off the High Precision Event Timer (HPET) the system can no longer count time properly, and therefore reads and displays higher frames per second simply because it no longer fully understands exactly how long a second actually is.[/spoiler]
