First gaming PC. Am I missing anything?

I should start by saying this isn't my first PC build, but the last one I built was in 2015 and it used onboard graphics, stock CPU fan, and a $26 case, if that tells you anything about how simple that build was. This will be my first time building a gaming PC and I'll be honest in that I almost have no idea what I'm doing but I've been watching a ton of videos and doing a ton of reading, on this forum and elsewhere. Anyways, I was hoping some of y'all would take a look at what I've got in my cart and give me any tips/pointers or let me know if I'm flat out missing something.

I should start by saying that the graphics card isn't something I can change. I was lucky enough to get one from Newegg Shuffle so, at least for now, I'm just going to stick with what I was able to get.

CPU: Intel i7-12700K
Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix (this is another part I'd really rather not change because I already have it and the LGA 1700 retrofit)
MOBO: ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (4x8)
GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 3070
Case: Corsair iCUE 5000X RGB
PSU: Corsair RMx Series (not sure what size to go with here...right now I've got the 1000w in my cart so I know I'm covered)
Storage: 1Tb WD Black SN850 NVMe M.2 2280

I've also added Win10 as my OS and picked up some thermal paste (not sure if I even need it or if it's pre-applied).

Also, I'm still not 100% sure what keyboard/mouse I'll be going with. I'm guessing I'll just pick up one of the Corsair sets they have at Best Buy.

I guess also worth noting is that I'm not a huge gamer (yet). Right now I have an Xbox One and I play CoD, Farming Sim, and The Hunter (mostly Farming Sim these days). I'd like to be able to play all of those games, and possibly add more to my lineup in the future.

Thanks, in advance, for any advice y'all are willing to give. Any and all feedback here is much appreciated.

Looks good to my inexpert eye, but put your list in at PCpartPicker.com just for compatibility safety.

PSU … 1000w
Way too much, 750 may even be too high.

Why not Win11?

not 100% sure what keyboard/mouse
If you're not very used to KB&M, then get a cheap set and learn your preferences from that.

I'm not a huge gamer
I assume you haven't any other heavy uses for the PC, besides gaming?

You want 2x16GB of RAM not 4x8GB.
Just curious, what's the diff—assuming he'll never need over 32GB, which he probably won't this decade.

@Brianboru it was true until not very long ago
Way too much, 750 may even be too high.
Sorry to butt in but that was true until not very long ago, unfortunately efficiency has gone out of the window in the last year or two.

With the way things are going its probably not a bad idea to get a 1000W PSU if you intend to keep it a while and upgrade Corsair RMx is a very good one.

Nvidia are building thirsty gear (check the power spikes) and its likely to get thirstier next gen. Intel have gone the same way to get ahead of AMD. A strong 850 Watt unit should be fine for a 3070, but there are people getting shutdowns from 3080's and up on some good quality 850Watt units. Might only get worse if Nvidia and Intel carry on the same way.

Otherwise build looks fine to me except for getting a 2x16GB RAM kit and Win 11 as they guys already stated.

Well done on choosing your build , just a couple of things.

First , new parts look very shiny so make sure you remove the thin film of clear plastic from the top of the cpc and cooler base , its easy to overlook.

Check your mobo manual for which ram slots to use for the number of sticks you have.

As your spending a lot of money anyway why not do same as me , i have a 450gb ssd for windows and all the things you cant choose to store somewhere else and i have a larger ssd for all games and other things.

Quite a few folks have told me this but I'm hoping it won't make that much difference. I'd rather have the 4 sticks just because I don't want to have any empty slots in there. Silly, I know.

Way too much, 750 may even be too high.

I swapped the 1000w out for a 750w in my cart. I did still stick with the Corsair RMx series, though.

Why not Win11?

I am still undecided on whether, or not, to upgrade to Win11 but figured if I buy the Win10 I can always choose to upgrade later. If I buy the Win11 I can't go backwards if I change my mind.

I assume you haven't any other heavy uses for the PC, besides gaming?

I do some minor Photoshop editing but I figure if my current PC can get it done good enough then the new one should handle it like a champ so I didn't even consider Photoshop when putting all this together. In short, this PC is being built primarily for gaming.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I can't like your posts because I'm new, but they are all greatly appreciated.

I would look at something like this and put the money saved towards the gpu or SSD. That cpu should be coming back in stock any day now. btw Super Flower makes the high end psu's for EVGA. That psu will power an RTX 3080 Ti.

Whoa, see post #6—the others in this thread know a lot more than I do.

Maybe I do need to go with a 1000w then. Ha! Some folks on another board also recommended I downgrade to a 750w so yours wasn't the only suggestion to do so.

See post #5.

From what I've read, and I certainly haven't read it all, as long as I'm buying 4 sticks in a single kit, the XMP profiles should work fine out of the box.

See post #8.

Yeah, I may go ahead and go with Win11. I didn't realize there was a specific performance increase for the CPU I'm getting.

Thanks for this! Definitely going to give me some options to look into today. I can't change the GPU, though, as that's already been purchased and was actually delivered yesterday. I got it off the Newegg shuffle so, at least for the foreseeable future, I'd want to stick with that.
