Yup. I don't know who would buy one at this price. Not that Valve has much control over it at the moment. But I forsee the Steam Machine being an easy $1500 after all of this.

It's still a handy machine, the Deck, but I would never pay this much for it (even though I've probably put that much into mine between batteries, skin and SSD, including original purchase price.)

Yeah, it's a shame. It was such a great entry into PC gaming on a budget.

I had one and still thought the old price was a bit over what it was worth. I wouldn't even consider it at this price. I'd rather get an Odin 3 and stream Steam games or get a ROG Ally X

Don't have a moment to watch the video, but your first sentence is apropos.

We're heading to Illinois in July and my plan has been for months now to take my Steam Deck for the flight and when we have downtime in the evenings. But now I'm reconsidering taking the Deck and thinking I should just take one of my sub-$150 handhelds, because I can't afford it if my Deck breaks or is stolen.

I don't think that'll happen, given I've been traveling with it for 4 years now, but still.

Though weirdly, I feel less reticent about taking my new $864 laptop, not sure why that is. Though I won't be taking it, even if that is the case.
