Can't sign in using my original password and email address.

I read with heavy irony the PC Gamer article complaining about signing in... Even though your database shows it knows my original email address and password, when attempting to log into to the main site page, it never logs me in. Instead, I get a circular animation that says, "Attempting verification" and continues running for days--that's right, days! And then it simply stops, nothing accomplished. The first time I tried, the log in seemed to work as I got a verification email and activated it and the feedback said, "Verified". But it never actually worked, for some reason. OK, today I was able to log in using a Google email address, instantly, with no trouble. This will be the only site out of dozens I use that uses a Google email account to sign in. I'd rather use my original email and password, however.

This apparently has something to do with the website security changes you have announced. My original sign in was done with the Username "WaltC". If you need more info let me know... Thanks.

I don't know if you have been contacted by the representative of pcgamer as regards to the issues you had about logging in. I guess you get the right attention if you contact that using the right channel. Maybe this could help.
