NetHack 5.0 released!
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/nearly-40-years-after-launch-nethack-just-got-a-5-0-0-release-with-over-3-000-patch-notes/
Oh, and there's a full moon tonight, so you'll have a little extra luck if you play today. Yes, really, look out the window. The moon is...
Yay! Semi-retirement is finally here! They worked me until 2am on Saturday, but the watched pot did finally boil. Only semi-retirement, though - gotta get back to work in a few hours.
My main drive has only 2TB and I never have any space issues at all. Sometimes it hardly seems worth the...
Ran into a zeppelin playing BattleTech Advanced today! Some army guys in little mech outfits, too. The game is choppy as can be with all those mods, but there's a ton of variety.
NASTY!! And Legendary only, thank goodness. <shudder>
Jedi Survivor DOES have fast travel between any save point you've been to. The place is far too huge to make you run around between all the points. (You hear me Outward? TOO BIG TO NOT HAVE FAST TRAVEL? <grumble grumble>)
Oh yes.
I'm not sure what the surprise was, though.
The second game...
Yep, it would go into the computer and out the TV set! Atari 400 had it and maybe the 800 - after that, I don't think the computers supported cassette anymore. There was some hacky thing to do it. I don't remember if you just had to poke some specific bit of memory or if there was some little...
There's also a big Paradox sale going on, including this bundle:

Europa Universalis 4 plus... still not all of the DLC for just under $100 USD! Eeeesh.
GOG has started up their May the 4th...
Yeah, but at least with an Atari you could then put in an audio tape and listen to it through the computer. I suppose you could also put it in a proper cassette player next to a computer, but that isn't nearly as cool.
SO, back to the topic...
First, yeah, the Warren Robinett bit was very fun...
Look carefully - that's a curved CRT! People pay a premium for that sort of thing! ;)
The BattleTech advanced mod lets you buy extra bays. A single bay holds 18 mechs and, when I originally played, I only needed 8 or 9 and kept two or three more just for fun, so giving me the ability to have...
Just $20 USD. I think you need one of the DLC to get access to new game plus, but I rarely do those anyway.

Or this one for $12

Also $12...
You keep saying TMI! TMI is an image format I invented! Well... 'format' is pushing it. It's just a .JPG with a comment set in such a way that my programs can read it, then lay it on top of a map with the same location/rotation/opacity that it was saved with. Outside of work, it's just a...
Playing BattleTech advanced and I've been getting bigger and stronger. I'm dropping 9 mechs onto the field, plus a couple of vehicles. A couple of nights ago, I dropped into a city and started trudging toward my targets and along come a tank with a lot of armor and a special kind of gun: a...
If the chest contents are randomized and you keep opening the same one over and over until you get something good, yeah. If you stay at just two lock picks for a long time, I suppose this could amount to the same thing, but I'm betting you got more pretty quickly.
