I've gone back to Hades multiple times at this point. A roguelike with a great story just has too much replay ability. If you're on the fence, I wrote an article about its gameplay.
The quantity of vitriol they got? Certainly not. There is no denying that I tried to play it when it originally came and ran into bugs that ruined it. I've only recently swung back around to playing it and I'm glad they've turned it around though.
I always respect when games have restrict love lines based on in game choices. When you can do anything and then turn around and just butter up characters with copious amounts of gifts, it hurts the story aspect. I want my romance lines to feel genuine and enhance the story and not just tickle...
I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about this one. With how long it has been since I played Diablo 2 it's hard to say how much of my enjoyment was nostalgia driven and just the fact that it was still a new formula. I will be keeping an eye for it though.
I always play as a paragon of virtue for the first several playthroughs of a good RPG. If I like a game enough, I will eventually get curious as to what the evil options are, but I still feel bad making them.
It's hard not to consider Raphael's final fight in the house of hope for this one. The story line was fantastic, and while I knew there was no chance I'd ever take one of his deals, it was oh so satisfying. Him singing his own battle music was one of those great mic drop moments in gaming...
