As in the title, what are some of your suggestions on RPGs that everyone should try to play at least once? What about these titles in particular made them stand out to you above the rest?
Besides the games already suggested, I can't really think of similar titles. However, there is a title that you may be interested in called Ready or Not that is currently being developed. I think it may be the closest to a SWAT 5 we'll be getting.
Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction comes to mind with its hardcore mode. I generally liked playing Diablo 3 in hardcore as well, though I much prefer the second game. The only other similar mode I can think of that I played through without dying on was Max Payne 3 on the New York Minute Hardcore setting.
My first was Pac-Man! Though I remember wishing for some reason that my favourite game at the time was the one I played first. That ancient fighting game was One Must Fall: 2097.
