Is this too hot for CPU?

My 5800x will hit 90C on air under load, every time, and idles around 50C. Even water cooling and throttling it doesn't bring the temp down that much (around 20c under load and 5-10c idling). I think the thermal ceiling for the Ryzen 7/9 chips is high, Googling around there are others asking...

Question Where is the best place to sell my Cyberpower i9 Xtreme Gaming Desktop? Any tips welcome

This. Especially for that 10900k. I think you'd sell it much quicker that way, too - if you're holding out for an offer of around £1400 you could be waiting forever - take a look on Gumtree or eBay, you can get much more powerful 2nd-hand systems for less money.

Triple 32" 4K monitor with g-sync... and good value :)

Monitors are a weak spot on my hardware knowledge, but I'm sure a 5ms response time is the bar for any gaming system, especially for racing sims.

    Gaming over the Holidays

This. I'm not doing much solo gaming atm, just a regular Friday night co-op with friends (Deep Rock Galactic, Worms Armageddon, GTFO, Among us). Might do some more VR. And I'll probably end up buying a couple of old PCs off Gumtree to part out or fix up, just to scratch my hardware itch...

Question Have you used the Amazon Games App or Luna cloud gaming?

I forgot about Onlive. Cloud gaming seemed like pie-in-the-sky back then - in retrospect they were just a bit too far ahead of their time. Like launching a supercar before motorways and dual-carriageways existed.

First time building a pc. Need advice on component compatibility and build quality. ASRock Radeon 6800 XT with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.

Lower latency RAM is always better: CL16 > CL18. I think you're splitting hairs in this case though - as long as they're both a decent brand, go with whichever's cheaper.

Top tip: you can pick a W10 digital license key* up on Ebay and elsewhere for less than £10/$10. You just need to create a W10 installer on a USB or ISO on a DVD (plenty of sites that will show you how to do that, including PCG sister-site, Tomshardware, I believe), then install and then enter...

Weekend Question: What's a weird quirk your PC has?

The RGB on my CPU liquid cooler* periodically switches off - only when I'm mid-game or in a browser, though. Also, my browser sometimes shows ads for Femfresh after the missus has been on my computer. *No doubt a pointless extra expense but I was feeling flush at the time. Please don't judge me.

Question Planning to upgrade my pc (little by little, what should I prioritize first?)

Just a BIOS issue apparently: it needs to be flashed to a certain version to support the 5800x, and that might have been done at the factory already. Also, I can flash my B450 motherboard without a CPU, which might be the case for this model of B550 that @Jimin wants.

Question Planning to upgrade my pc (little by little, what should I prioritize first?)

Mine runs extremely hot. They're supposed to, I think the 5800x is capped at 95C or something like that, but mine would hit 90C if opened a spreadsheet on the desktop. None of the stock Ryzen coolers really cut it (not that a new 5800x comes with any cooler), so you'll want a really good air...

Question Planning to upgrade my pc (little by little, what should I prioritize first?)

You mean 32Gb, right? I don't think all that RAM is necessary, unless you're going to be using your PC for something other than gaming of course... like graphic design or editing big video files. Or, I think if you're streaming and doing other stuff while gaming. My (limited) understanding of...

    PCG Article Priest Simulator

Just thought I'd stop by to give some Kudos to Christopher Livingstone for his funny trailer preview, particularly this bit: '"I don't see any point in my family," a wide-eyed (perhaps eyelidless) woman is saying, no doubt echoing a thought most of us have had at one time or another."' As one...

No, silly. Butter. Butter makes everything good.

    Question 32 GB RAM

I'm kinda surprised no-one queried why 32gb and not 16gb - if they're asking questions about frequency settings/XMP and don't know about motherboard compatibility, they might have just assumed 32gb>16gb regardless of any mixed modules or what they're using the PC for.
