I'm enjoying the game a lot, too. It's janky - oh boy is it janky! - but it's great fun.
It's interesting how the towns have little "tour" quests for you. All but one of the faction towns has one of the door guards guide you through the major points of the town. You'll need that, too...

Was there a Civilization game where, if the barbarians were left alone for a long time, they would start their own civilization? I've got a vague memory of that, but it could have been some other 4X game.

Pacing issues could be a bit of a bother. Framerate, though? Keep it above 30 and I'm good. I'm not trying to make headshots with some clumsy, uncivilized blaster!
